Paul is an architectural designer, ornament surveyor and drawing enthusiast.

He is the founder of Pixelweight, and a Lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture. Paul holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design. His portfolio, Protagonists of Architecture received the 2020 Kanter Tritsch Prize in Energy & Architectural Innovation in concert with the 2020 Kanter Tritsch Medalist, Peter Eisenman. Upon graduating fron Penn, Paul received the Arthur Spayd Brook Memorial Prize: Gold Medal - following in the footsteps of former recipients Julian Abele, Louis I. Kahn, and Jenny Sabin. Metropolis Magazine has named Paul one of the Future 100 designers in the United States.

Paul has professional experience from numerous international practices including: Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, Weiss/Manfredi, and Oyler Wu Collaborative. His collaborations have included multiple winning entries into local and internation competitions, and exhibitions at the 2022 ACADIA conference, the Pratt Institute, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the City X Virtual Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, and notable faculty publications. He has also been a guest critic at the University of Texas, the University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute, Ball State University, Texas A&M University, and the Barcelona Architecture Center.

Paul is greatly invested in the discourse of architecture and its disciplinary and professional dimensions. In 2017, he was an organizer of the INTERFACE Debate between Patrik Schumacher and Mark Foster Gage. In 2018 he was the coordinator of the DEEP VISTA Symposium, which included figures like Graham Harman, Timothy Morton, Kristy Balliet, and Michel Rojkind. In 2020 he was a part of the production design team of the 2022 ACADIA at the University of Pennsylvania. Paul is excited to be at the University of Texas School of Architecture to ignite new discussions about representation as a member of the Visual Communications instruction team.

Awards

Arthur Spayd Brooke Memorial Prize: Gold Medal / 2021

Established in 1900 in memory of Arthur Spayd Brooke, a graduate of the School of Architecture, and awarded to graduating architecture students for distinguished work in architectural design. Former winners include Julian Abele, Louis I. Kahn, and Jenny Sabin.

Kanter Tritsch Prize / 2020

Awarded annually to a second-year student pursuing a Master of Architecture degree at the Weitzman School of Design who demonstrates transformational thinking on the built environment and innovation in his or her approach to energy, ecology, and/or social equity.

Mario J. Romañach Fellowship / 2020

Established in 1984 in memory of one of Penn’s most beloved teachers, the fellowship is awarded to a student entering the final year in the professional degree program, for demonstrated excellence in design, a love for architecture, and the determination to develop as an architect. Mario J. Romanach served as Professor of Architecture from 1962 until his death in March 1984. He was Chairman of the Department of Architecture from 1971 to 1974.
