Curated by the Texas A&M Department of Architecture
The Texas A&M Department of Architecture is interested in finding common boundaries and positions as well as disagreement between the discipline and the practice of architecture.
For this reason we have invited Mr. Patrik Schumacher, an architect whose critical positions of the discipline into practice under a strong technological framework have paved the way for new generations of architects. As the sole partner in one of the most important and accomplished architecture firms in the world, he is a leader in most of the architectural discussions happening today.
Mr. Schumacher will be having a conversation with Mr. Mark Foster Gage. Mr. Gage is the Principal and founder of Mark Foster Gage Architects. He is also a tenured professor, and Assistant Dean at the Yale School of Architecture. He is a pioneer in design and technology and because his disciplinary interests he could be considered an architecture activist.
The idea behind this format is that we believe it communicates experiences that are reflective and cognitive. The dialogue helps the audience to see the power of deploying rational, reasoned arguments and compelling evidence in real time, as well as helps to establish different points of view that reflect the complexity of possibilities posed by an examination of the present situation. We believe that the dialogue between Mr. Patrik Schumacher and Mr. Mark Foster Gage that started on social media was incredibly provocative, and we want to extend and promote that exciting discussion...
